Revitalization of the Pedestrian Bridge (JPO) on Jenderal Sudirman Street, right in front of Sukaramai Trade Center (STC), is nearing completion. The project initiated by the Pekanbaru City Government has now entered its final stage or finishing.

Head of the Pekanbaru Transportation Agency Masykur Tarmizi, stated on Friday (3/7/2026), that all construction work has been completed. Currently, the focus is on installing the lighting system and supporting ornaments.

“For the construction work, it’s already finished. Now we are in the stage of installing the lights. The main lights are already installed, but there are still some decorative lights that we will add,” he said.

The JPO will be equipped with colorful decorative lights and spotlights installed on the left and right sides of the building. The light from these lamps will be directed towards the roof, creating a more artistic and attractive appearance at night.

Throughout the revitalization process, the JPO remains accessible to the public. He is optimistic that all work will be completed soon.

Previously, Mayor of Pekanbaru Agung Nugroho stated that the revitalization of the JPO from the Caltex era aims not only to enhance the comfort and safety of pedestrians but also to introduce a new destination that can strengthen the identity of Pekanbaru City.

“The revitalization concept combines Malay cultural values with modern design without erasing the historical value embedded in the JPO,” he explained.
