Abdul Wahid, despite facing legal proceedings, has been reappointed as the Chairman of the Riau Regional Leadership Council (DPW) of the National Awakening Party (PKB) for the 2026-2031 period. The decision was announced during the inauguration of PKB regional officials throughout Indonesia led by Chairman Muhaimin Iskandar on Tuesday (3/2/2026).
Represented by Ade Agus Hartanto in the inauguration ceremony, Abdul Wahid’s leadership spirit remains the main foundation for the progress of the party in Riau. He will be assisted by Secretary Ade Agus Hartanto, Treasurer Hendri, and Chairman of the Advisory Council Abdurrahman.
The decision of the PKB Central Executive Board (DPP) to maintain this core structure is seen as a signal of party solidarity and a form of appreciation for Abdul Wahid’s loyalty and achievements. The public also views this step as giving hope for the former suspended Governor of Riau to soon obtain legal certainty, considering that his case files have exceeded 90 days without being referred to court.
The spokesperson for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Budi Prasetyo, stated that there are no further details regarding Abdul Wahid’s legal process and will provide updates in the future.
